Hi! I'm a part 1 architect, photographer, web designer and all-round design geek from South Devon, England.
7/365 - Take a walk with me
Today, after a very chilled lie in this morning and a nice fried egg on toast for breakfast Kirsty and I went for a long walk around Burrator Reservoir, it had been raining so much recently that the dam had been opened to let the water out, so we went down to the bottom of the dam and took this picture! It was very impressive. It was a chilly walk, but nice to test out my new phone’s camera a bit more, I took loads of videos! We went back home for a spot of lunch before going for a little shopping trip… I had found a really good recipe for lemon chicken and decided to get the ingredients and cook it in the evening. When we got back I set about making the meal and it turned out amazingly well, the chicken was perfect, the sauce was tangy and the fried rice was awesome!! We watched a nice film in the evening and I caught up on my project 365 :D
6/365 - I love it when a plan comes together
This is a photo of a drawing I completed today at work! I was really happy with how good my drawing’s getting nowaways :) My boss liked it too, so that’s always a good sign!! It’s been a good day today, last day of the week thankfully! Instead of having a takeaway in the evening, Kirsty and I decided to have a home made burger and cider. We had to nip out to the shops quickly for buns, but it was so worth it! We ended up going to bed very full, happy and a bit drunkered :)
5/365 - Working Hard?
Today’s been a very long day at work!! I spent most of it on CAD drawing up house types, I got loads done but I had a real headache on the way home. Thankfully Kirsty made a really nice pasta dish for dinner for us whilst I finished off website design work on my mac. Later in the evening I had a chill and a well earned beer or two :) Here’s my mac’s keyboard, close up on my iPhone!
4/365 - Healthy Eating!
I awoke to a beautifully crisp and cold morning today, it makes a change!! Another day at work today, but it went really quickly, I had quite a lot of drawing on CAD to do but my new iPhone kept me amused throughout the day! I was glad to get home in the evening with Kirsty and start cooking stir fry. I was very impressed with my pro cooking skills and took the photo of some mushrooms I added :) Kirsty and I felt much better after a light, healthy dinner, which was nice as she hadn’t been feeling well yesterday. We watched a bit of telly in the evening and then had an early night.
3/365 - A new toy
Today I got my new iPhone! I’ve been waiting little over a week and I was so excited to hear it had been delivered back at home, so I had to drive back in my lunch break to get it… Obviously! It has been a very productive first day back at work, but I really didn’t enjoy getting up at 7 in the morning again. The weather today was horrific, gale force winds and rain all morning. In the evening I finally managed to get my phone working by going down to O2 with Kirsty and my Dad. We had a Chinese takeaway in the evening because we were so knackered, it was lovely :)
2/365 - Back to Normality
Today we got rid of the Christmas tree! It was an absolute pain to get out the house, and it dropped nearly ALL of it’s needles on the way. The carpet was covered in the prickly buggers and it took both me and Kirsty about 2 hours to hoover/sweep them up before even having a shower in the morning. It was lovely to have the house back to normal, though. I’d missed my favourite square paper light in its usual place, so here it is - back in its place of glory, along with my nice new Moleskine Diary Kirsty got me for Christmas. I actually made a start filling it in today! Other than doing the weekly shop at Morrisons, today has been a very chilled and productive day!

So, I learned how to play Tabula recently - a Roman precursor to Backgammon for two players. It’s a great game and extremely addictive! Since I only got a tiny board to play it on for Christmas, I decided to make my own, larger board, to make playing a little less fiddly!
If you too want to learn how to play Tabula and print off your own (up to A3 size) board here are some rules of the game, and a pdf version of my board:
As well as this, you’ll need 3, 6-sided, dice (virtual dice online) and two sets of 15 counters (we use colored, flattened glass marbles, but you can use anything).
Enjoy Tabula!
1/365 - Back Again!
It’s new year’s day! Happy 2012 everyone :) I’ve decided to restart my project 365, after a feeble attempt in 2011… I only got to number 243 before my new job, moving house and general laziness got the better of me and I couldn’t keep up with all the photos :( This year, however, both me and my girlfriend Kirsty are going to be undertaking our 365s at the same time, so that should make it a tad easier! Here’s my first shot: it’s pretty much got my new year’s resolutions all wrapped up - our new surfing magazine calendar and resolution to start surfing again as soon as the lifeguards come back to Perran (and to get fitter in general) and to stop neglecting my photography!! Here’s my old Continamatic II that I haven’t even got through one reel of film with yet! 2011 was great, here’s to an even better 2012. Thanks for looking!
Here’s a quick update for my blog… which i’ve not really been paying much attention to recently :(
I’m going to be updating xelcise.com a lot more soon, and as well as this: restarting my project 365 as part of my new year’s resolution for 2012! I know I didn’t actually finish my 365 last year, hopefully this year will be easier and a little less hectic :) Thanks for looking.
Wishing you all a happy new year and a fantastic 2012!
Cheers!
